Colin and Sandra set out on married life, moving to Stratford, London and then to the Midlands, where their son Tim was born, before settling in down around Gants Hill in Essex for just over 25 years, where their daughter, Cindy, completed the family.
During this period Sandra and Colin both worked hard but also enjoyed an active and fun social life. Sandra had part time jobs hairdressing, then working in LEB (London Electicity Board) shops, but her main focus was on looking after her children and her home. Sandra was a great cook, and loved to bake. She enjoyed making clothes, knitting and sewing, and also making soft furnishings, such as curtains and even re-upholstery. Sandra took on the role of a traditional housewife, which she mostly enjoyed, and always did with well and with pride.
Meanwhile Colin worked hard, studying to get the qualifications needed and the experience to advance his career in the Electricity Industry. Colin's job was the source of a lively group of friends and an active social scene, and over the years Sandra and Colin enjoyed, lots of parties and dances.
Colin's golf was also the source of lots of friends and social engagements, and in the late 1980s, in a spirit of 'if you can't beat them, join them', Sandra also took some golf lessons and started to build on this network of friendships.
